Anthony & Michele Sgro, Owners of the Shoe Horn, Inc.

Have been specializing in foot comfort and protection since they established their store in 1986. Most people don't think about their feet until they hurt. Most people don't think about protecting their feet until they are injured.

Luckily for the Greater Akron Ohio area, Anthony Sgro Certified Pedorthist is not most people. Well credentialed in his vocation, Anthony holds a degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Pedothics.

Pedorthics is the design, manufacture, modification and fit of footwear to alleviate foot problems.  He has certification in pedorthics from the Board of Certification in Pedorthics in Seattle, Wash.

The Shoe Horn is also a Medicare Part B, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Aetna and Medical Mutual of Ohio  insurance provider. A Pedorthist can fit and dispense diabetic footwear  and assist his customers in their medical billing process. The Shoe Horn is also a Workers' Comp. provider.

Family Tradition

Havin worked in my fathers shoe repair business since I was 11 years old, my experience in the shoe business is nearly lifelong. " I would work everyday after school until closing, learning the trade from the best known shoemaker and the best teacher, my dad. Vincent Sgro from Bronte, Sicily". 

Caring for Customers

Anthony and his staff fit and dispense footwear according to physician's prescriptions. Anthony can modifie footwear for his customers that would need elevations, flares, stabilizers and custom foot orthotics.

It's one of many ways that The Shoe Horn remains true to the company's philosophy. "We Fit with Care".
